Slow shutter speed photo shows female cardinal in motion as she flys away with food in her mouth.

This photo uses a slow shutter speed in comparison to the rate of the flapping wings. Keeping the camera still with focus on the body of the bird creates an image that implies motion of the wings. This is because the wings move a bit during the time the lens is open (shutter speed not fast enough to stop motion of the wings). This movement is portrayed in the camera by recording all of the locations the wings moved while the lens was open. This is what gives the feeling of motion.
